August has concluded, and with that our summer program.  All the coaches, staff and players did a great job throughout the time between May and August.  Our teams all did well at the National Championships with the 16-under girls finishing in the top 8 - and Lyndsay Sutterley and Lyndsay Pengilley being named to the USWP All American teams. 

With the end of August that means that we are on our way into the high school season.  There is concern that the frosh-soph programs in the Modesto area are woefully short of players.  This shortage is reflected in both the boys and girls programs.  In an attempt to try and encourage more kids to get into water polo we have decided to conduct a free program for pre high school kids.  The program will be Mon. and Wed. from 4 to 5:30 at Johansen - we will be using Bryan Haguchi and Lorna Lynott to work with the kids.  If there are more than 20 kids who are interested in participating then we will add staff as necessary.

As a free program, there are currently no plans to compete in any tournaments with these kids at this time.  However, there are programs going on in Stockton and Sacramento this fall, and if the coaches feel that it is possible, we will look into a game or two.

For those of you with high school kids playing water polo please go into our tournament folder and see teams entered, seedings, results, etc. - we will be trying to go live time scores for both the DeLong and Western States Tournaments.  Also you will see a team roster section (for those coaches who have turned them in, they are there) - and with the beginning of league play the second week in September, we will keep that on going.

PLEASE if you know of any kids who might be interested in water polo we would love to have them.

As the late fall proceeds we will be finding out about next summers Junior Olympic location.  We are thinking that it would probably be in Michigan.  If so, we will need to decide early on if we want to send teams to JO's and/or the Hawaii tournaments.  More on that stuff later.
