January 2005

The winter league is up and running and the teams all did an excellent job this past weekend.  I was at a retreat for the National Coaching staff, and many were commenting on the fact that Modesto/Stanislaus was participating in the winter league for the first time.  The staff at MJC with Kurt and Roman leading the way are doing an excellent job.  The program will conclude with the tournament the first weekend in February.

The spring schedule is up and posted.  We will be holding our practices on mainly  Tuesdays and Wednesdays.  This will be open to age group boys and girls - beginning to advanced - as well as our new MOM's program.  If you could mail in your registrations if would be helpful, if not, you can register while you are on the pool deck the first day.

CONGRATULATIONS to Kathie McBroom who was named by the Central California Zone of USWP as the Volunteer of the Year.  Kathie will receive a certificate of special recognition at the annual convention in Houston, TX January 14th.

HAWAII information will be up and posted by mid January.  We have entered the following teams for consideration - 16-under boys and girls, 18-under boys and girls, and an Open team for the women.  The cost of the tournament and general information will be posted by mid January.  We will need a $100 deposit to hold your place no later than March 1st.  Kathie McBroom has volunteered as the main contact person for this trip - if you are interested in helping her, please contact us

NEW MEXICO training and competition is still scheduled for spring break.  Although we have not done much to promote it, we are still intending to participate.  Information for this will be handed out at the first practice of the spring season.  Players will have only ONE week to commit to this trip - no more than that.  Approximate cost for the week will run around $500.  Players will do swim workouts in the morning and play in a tournament in the evening.  I am also looking for parent helpers on this one
