February 2005

This month there are a number of items that we need to cover.  The spring season is beginning, the area camps for the girls are beginning, summer schedule, the New Mexico trip needs to be decided, the Hawaii trip information and initial deposit time lines need to be set up.

So here goes

Spring polo begins on Tuesday, February 8th and will be held on Tuesday and Wednesdays (with a couple of exceptions) until the end of April.  Information and registration forms can be found on the home page where we have set up a link

Area camps will be held March 6th and March 20th (this is a change from the original information with the final zone team competitions being held at Johansen April 9-10.  There will be three area teams chosen, a Junior squad (born 87-88), Youth (born 89-90), and Futures (born 91 or later).  I have run off an explanation sheet which covers the costs, etc.  There are copies available at the pool.  If you can't make it to the pool, please contact me with your specific questions and I will fill you in.

Summer schedule is now posted and can be found on the home page where we have set up a link.  It is a full schedule with plenty of competition for both the boys and girls teams.  We are going to try something a bit different with the girls this summer.  We will be dividing the girls into age group teams, as before, but at practice we will be pooling the more advanced girls into a "top 30" group.  This group will be eligible for the more advanced tournaments, and will also involve travel on weekends.  More on this group in later newsletters.  Our staff for the summer is firming up nicely - Flip Hassett, Karin Umemuru, Lisa Avrett, Shannon Avrett,  Kendra Smith, Geraldine Hazlett, Savanah Kelley are all on board for coaching the girls.  On the boys side we will have Sonja Raynes and Tyler McBroom returning, and we are still looking for additional help.

New Mexico Trip is still planned, unfortunately we have not gotten an overwhelming response.  We will have to decide within the next three weeks whether we are going or not.  The tournament is over Spring Break and we would travel there on the Monday after Easter.  In New Mexico we would do swim training in the morning and compete in the evenings in water polo.  Many of you have expressed an interest in going, but we need to decide if we have enough to have a team.  Please let me know what your intentions are.

Hawaii tournament is all set.  We will need to start getting deposits.  I will post information on the link found on the homepage later this week.
