December 2005
The 2006 year is almost upon us and I am sure there are many of you trying to figure out what your summer is going to look like. Although we have not yet planned out all the events, I can let you know the following information
18-under girls will play in Commerce June 23 to 25
16-under girls and 18-under girls will play in the A.R. invitational TBA
JO's are to be held in Southern California - boys from July 29th to August 1st and the girls from August 3rd to the 6th
As I get more information I will add it onto this page.
You may also be aware that the playing rules have undergone major changes for the upcoming USWP season. No longer will there be a 2m and 4m line, it will now become a 2m and 5m line. The shot clock time will change from 35 seconds to 30 seconds. If the goalie blocks the ball out of bounds the ball will turn over to the defense. If fouled outside the 5m line you can shoot the ball. There are a few other items. By myself and another coach are attending the referees clinic later this month so we can get a good perspective as to how these rules will be called and interpreted.
Winter water polo is going on now at MJC. We have a tentative schedule for tournaments: January 7-8, January 21-22, and February 4-5. Locations will be announced later, but last year girls were on Saturday and boys on Sunday. It is still not too late to sign up for this season.
Spring water polo will begin the second week in February. More information for this will be forthcoming once plans are finalized.
Congratulations to all MSWP members for their excellent high school seasons. If you look at all league/all section teams, etc. you can see that our club was very well represented !!!
The coaching staff for next year appears to be returning in tact - so we are starting off the new year on the right foot.
As per state law our incorporation requires that we hold annual elections and meetings. We will be having this meeting in early January - if you are interested in this please get contact me for more information.
Lastly - we all wish you a MERRY CHRISTMAS, NEW YEAR, and HOLIDAY SEASON.
