MSWP Newsletter:  JULY

This is the last month of summer polo and will conclude the last Thursday of the month.  Although we will have quite a few of our teams traveling to Florida that last week, we will still conduct practice at the regular times.

Congratulations to our women’s team who won the unofficial zone championships by have the highest overall finishes in the seeding tournament. 

We will be sending two boys teams to Junior Olympics in Florida – 16 and unders, and 18 and under.  On the girls side we will be sending three teams – 14and under (they were the zone champions), 16-unders and 18-unders.  The flight information and hotel information are all available in the pool office.

Congratulations to Margie Dingledine (MSWP 1996 to 2000) and Heather Moody (MSWP 1990 to 1998) who were both named to the U.S. Olympic team to compete in Athens.  Heather has been the captain of the team for the past four years.

July is a busy month for our teams with Junior Olympics, local competitions and Senior Nationals – we wish all good luck in their respective divisions.

In the August newsletter we will be covering the fall season for our non high school players, as well as a new program MOM’S POLO.  This new program is designed for the mothers to learn and socialize with other parents.  There are a couple of other programs in the area that also have the same low-key programs going on.  We encourage you to consider this new program – it should be a lot of fun.  The sign up sheet for this is located on the pool door at the pool.  It will be two days a week, around an hour to an hour and a half in duration.

The pre high school program will also be two days a week.  If there is enough interest we will attempt to qualify for Speedo Cup.  We will also be involved in a fall league with a culminating tournament in late October.
