Newsletter: April 2004 APRIL MSWP NEWSLETTER Summer Calendar The calendar for the summer season is now posted. Boys: the site for Junior Olympic Qualifying is Solano College, not Clovis. There may be additional games/scrimmages added to either schedule - we will keep you informed Remaining April schedule Practice on Tues 4/6 and Wed 4/7 (not Thurs. this week) There will be NO practice during Spring Break. The last two practices will be Wed. and Thurs., April 21 and 22. This will conclude the spring season *NOTE there will be girls games Sunday 5/2 vs Marin and American River from 10 to 2 - please plan to attend Change for summer practices (refer to the March letter for times) BOYS will practice MONDAY mornings at Johansen during the summer. Tuesday through Thursday practices will still be held at Pitman Pamphlets We have prepared hand outs to encourage more kids to get involved with water polo. We would like these handed out at junior high schools, elementary schools, sports clubs, etc. We need people who are willing to get these to those locations. If you would be interested, please pick some up from our office at the pool. Registration for summer You may register at anytime between now and the first practice. You can go on line to our website and download the form and mail it in. With regards to US Water Polo registration, all competitive players must be registered. Go to the link for US Water Polo and download a form, or pick one up from the pool office. Our club number is 176, and our zone is Central California Junior Olympics We will begin in earnest during May to find out just who is intending on going to Junior Olympics in Florida. At this time we have no costs since the host hotel list has not been released. If you have any questions please contact Brent. As mentioned in the March newsletter we will only take 13 players in each age group. April activities Utah - good luck to the 14 players we have going to Utah over spring break. They will be training and playing 8 games while there. They will be playing local high schools as well as the University of Utah's Women's team Commerce - good luck to our pre high school girls team that will be traveling to Commerce the 24th and 25th to play the best teams in Southern and Northern California Congratulations to the following girls who were named to the Central Area zone team, the first step to making the zone and national youth teams. This was available this year to those born 1987 or later. Playing for a spot at the next level will be - Katie Carson, Melanie McBroom, Jodi Hanson, Catrina Gallardo, Amy Bougoukalos, Ryley Plunkett, Camille Hackett, Lyndsay Sutterley, Morgan Kelley, Annie Benisch and Brandie MdGee.
